CBS 2008: 75,5% van de Israëliërs Joods; 20% Arabisch

Met het nieuwjaar (Rosh Hashanah) heeft het Israëlische CBS weer bevolkingsstatistieken gepresenteerd van 2008:75,47% van de bevolking is Joods; 20,26% is Arabisch.

De Israëlische bevolking is relatief jong in vergelijking met de rest van de wereld. Het centrum (de kustvlakte) is het dichtst bevolkt.

Er wonen 7.456.000 inwoners in het land: 5.634.000 is Joods en 1.513.000 is Arabisch; 318,000 is overig, voornamelijk nieuwe immigranten.

De bevolking groeit met 1,8%: de Joodse bevolking groeit met 1,7% en de Arabische bevolking 2,6%.

Kinderen onder 14 jaar is 28,4% (de rest van de wereld is dat 17%).

Bevolking ouder dan 65 is 9,7% (in westerse landen is 15%).

Ouder dan 75 jaar is 5,6%.

De levensverwachting van mannen is 79,1% en van vrouwen is 83 jaar.

De Joodse bevolking heeft geen haast met trouwen (mannen trouwen later dan vrouwen); de moslims trouwen sneller.

28% van de Joden woont in het centrum van het land; 21% van de Joden woont in de Tel Aviv regio.

10% van de Joden woont in het noorden: 60% van de Arabieren woont in het noorden.

de bevolkingsdichtheid is 321 inwoners per km²; in Jeruzalem 1.394 inwoners per km²; in de centrale regio 1.368 inwoners per km²; het noorden 278 inwoners per km²; Bnei Barak heeft 21.000 inwoners per km², gevolgd door Bat Yam 15.700 inwoners per km²

Er kwamen 3900 Joodse inwoners op de Westbank bij; 4200 inwoners verlieten Jeruzalem; 5700 verlieten Tel Aviv.De Israëliërs eten 3.522 calorieën per dag
